Profile

Andrew Rudnick is the President of the Buffalo Niagara Partnership, having served as the chief executive officer of the organization since its formulation in 1993 and having served as chief executive officer of one of the Partnership’s predecessor organizations - the Greater Buffalo Development Foundation – from 1986 to 1993. He came to Buffalo from Houston, Texas, where he was chief operating officer of the Houston Economic Development Council (1985 1986); Director of Rice University's Urban Research Center (1981 1985); and Associate Chancellor of the University of Houston (1976 1981). From 1971 1976, he served in a variety of positions at the University of Alabama as Assistant Dean of the School of Primary Medical Care, Executive Assistant to the President, and Director of Planning and Research for the University of Alabama System. He currently is chair of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, vice chair of Univera Healthcare’s board, and is a past director of Dunlop Tire Corporation. He also serves as a board member of America’s Edge, Buffalo Niagara Enterprise, Buffalo Urban Development Corporation, Continental 1 Association, Erie County Industrial Development Agency, Greater Buffalo Convention and Visitors Bureau (of which he served as acting president), New York State Smart Border Coalition, and the Erie County SPCA. He is past chairman of the board of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra of which he also served as acting executive director; past board president of the Arts Council in Buffalo and Erie County; and was vice chair of the 1993 World University Games. He is a BA graduate of Harvard, has an MBA from Columbia (where he was named a Woodrow Wilson Administrative Fellow), and a Ph.D. from the University of Alabama. He is a member of the Department of Planning faculty at the University of Buffalo, and is author of The American Public University in the Urban Context, published in 1983 by the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges.
