Unshackle Upstate endorsed Republican Floyd Rayburn this week in his bid to be the next New York State Senator from the 54th district.

Rayburn is currently in a multi-candidate battle for the Republican nomination. Primary Day is September 13th.

“Unshackle Upstate believes that Floyd Rayburn will be a strong advocate in the State Senate for overburdened taxpayers and struggling small business owners,” said Greg Biryla, executive director of Unshackle Upstate. “He is a proven job creator who will fight to improve New York’s harsh business climate and boost Upstate’s sluggish economy. We’re proud to endorse Floyd Rayburn to represent the people of 54th Senate District.”

Rayburn is the founder and President of F.G. Rayburn Masonry Contractors, which employs close to 50 people and is located in Canandaigua, NY.

“I couldn’t be more proud of an endorsement,” said Rayburn.  “This group has grown quickly because they advocate for the same issues everyone I talk to is clamoring for:  lower taxes, mandate relief, pension reform, lower state spending.”

Rayburn has never held elective office but has played a very active civic role and is a leader within the employer community. He is member of the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, Associated Builders and Contractors – Empire State Chapter and the Canandaigua Chamber of Commerce.

Unshackle Upstate is a pro-taxpayer/pro-business organization comprised of more than 80 business and trade organizations representing 70,000 companies and employing more than 1.5 million people.  The group is committed to promoting job growth across Upstate New York through regulatory reforms and lower taxes – just like Rayburn.
