Last week, Unshackle Upstate, as part of a coalition of 42 organizations, wrote to the members of the Temporary Commission to Review the State’s Business Climate that the Governor and legislative leaders announced in April and urged the commission to address workers compensation, the Wicks Law, health-care costs, medical liability and the Scaffold Law, among other issues.  The Governor and the legislative leaders have directed the commission to “decrease the cost of doing business in the state” to “improve the state’s business climate.” While similar efforts have fallen woefully short in the past, we felt that we should at least inform the commission members about the issues that they should be pushing for action on.
