Rebuild NY Now, the coalition that is pushing state elected officials state elected officials to support public policies that promote safe roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, water treatment and other vital infrastructure continued its campaign last week with events in the Capital Region and the Southern Tier.
With the Governor’s Executive budget proposing $26.1 billion for the MTA and $20.1 billion for roads and bridges – the biggest disparity between the two in history — the group is calling on the Governor and Legislature to restore parity to the MTA and DOT capital plans in the state budget.
We share the coalition’s concerns. Too many Upstate roads and bridges are in dire need of repair. We urge lawmakers must commit to upgrading and maintaining Upstate roads and bridges, which are as important to our economy as the MTA is to New York City.
