Last Tuesday, the Commission on Legislative, Judicial and Executive Compensation held its first meeting – to address organizational issues — in New York City. The Commission is tasked with examining, evaluating and making recommendations with respect to compensation for the state’s judges, state legislators and certain Executive branch officials.

The Commission’s recommendations with regard to judicial salaries will take effect in 2016 unless modified or abrogated by legislation prior to taking effect. In 2017, the Commission will undertake a similar process with respect to legislators and Executive branch appointees.
