Last week, Unshackle Upstate and Associated Builders endorsed Fred Akshar, the Republican candidate for the vacant 52nd Senate District seat in the Binghamton area.

While his opponent, former Broome County Executive and DMV Commissioner Barbara Fiala, is saying good things regarding job creation and tax relief, we think that Fred Akshar is the better choice in this race. We think that he will have the greatest and most immediate impact in terms of our priority issues when he gets to Albany.

Brian Sampson, President of Associated Builders and Contractors, Empire State Chapter, said:

“We are proud to give our endorsement to Fred Akshar. He will bring a unique perspective as an outsider eager to take on the bureaucratic monster that is Albany. …There is no question that he passes the test as an advocate for free enterprise, fair competition and government transparency. There is a future for Binghamton and the Southern Tier. But to reach it we need Fred Akshar in office to fight against the Albany machine.

Fred Akshar said:

“I’m honored to have the endorsement of Unshackle Upstate and the Empire State Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors. Every day, I’m continuing to meet with local small business owners and employees across the 52nd District to listen to their concerns so I can properly represent them in Albany. I plan to be a strong, energetic voice for creating opportunities for businesses and their employees to succeed both in our community and our state.”
