Last week, Thursday, Budget Director Mary Beth Labate issued a memo to state agencies saying that that while the state’s economy has improved, fiscal restraint is still necessary. She told agency commissioners submit their budget requests by Oct. 16, and to limit their spending growth to 2% or less.
By keeping a lid on the growth of state spending increases, Gov. Cuomo helped the state improve its fiscal situation dramatically. We’re pleased that he remains committed to holding the line on state agency spending.
