A report released last week by the New York Federal Reserve Bank finds that while some parts of the state have bounced back from the Great Recession and are growing, other areas are still struggling. According to the Fed, New York City is doing extremely well, as are the Buffalo and Albany areas. But the Binghamton area continues to struggle, seeing little or no job growth.
This report should be yet another reminder to our leaders in Albany that people are suffering, and they need help from Albany. We need state policies that promote private sector job creation – including tax and regulatory relief – if we want to see all of New York State moving forward.
