Last week, Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman announced that Judge Lawrence Marks will assume the post of Chief Administrative Judge, which oversees the day-to-day operations of the state’s court system. He replaces Gail Prudenti, who recently announced that she is leaving the court system to head the Center for Children, Families and the Law at Hofstra University School of Law.

Judge Marks has served as first deputy chief administrative judge since 2012. He has been with the court system for 24 years, serving as Director of the Office of Court Administration, special counsel to the chief administrative judge and deputy counsel for criminal justice.
