The Buffalo Niagara Partnership is one of seven groups from around the country that have been chosen to participate in the “Communities that Work Partnership” – a national, 15-month project to develop strategies and best practices to increase workforce development and accelerate regional economic development. The partnership is a joint project of the Workforce Strategies Initiative of the Aspen Institute and the Economic Development Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Some of the topics the group will look at are improving public policies, training and education programs, and employer practices. A regional team will focus on talent development strategies for the Buffalo Niagara region in conjunction with the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo. National experts in economic, workforce and talent development will also provide support.
Laura Smith, the Buffalo Niagara Partnership’s Vice President for Economic Development will be leading the regional site team. We wish her the best in this effort, and look forward to seeing their results.
