Last week, Gov. Cuomo announced that the state Inspector General will investigate the escape of two convicted murders from the Clinton Correctional Facility. The probe was launched 10 days after two convicted killers escaped from the maximum security facility in Dannemora, Clinton County, via an elaborate escape plan in which they cut through walls and pipes with power tools.
The two escapees – who are considered extremely dangerous — have not been caught.
Gov. Cuomo said:
“Capturing these killers and returning them to state custody remains our top priority – however, it’s critically important to examine the circumstances that enabled these inmates to escape in the first place. Today I am directing the Inspector General to initiate an investigation into the facts surrounding this case, and report back on what steps need to be taken to help ensure this situation is not repeated.”
