Last week, a coalition representing New York’s restaurant and business communities – which Unshackle Upstate is a part of — announced the creation of the Save NY Restaurants coalition, which is opposing Gov. Cuomo’s appointment of a wage board to investigate and make recommendations on an increase in the minimum wage in the fast food industry.

New York – especially Upstate — is a difficult place to start and grow a successful business. Employers must deal with stifling regulatory burdens and live with sky-high property and income taxes, and an ever-shrinking consumer base. The Department of Labor’s wage board is just another end-around assault on New York’s small businesses and the latest example of the Empire State’s hostility towards employers.
