The State Legislature is in session Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

The state Board of Regents holds its next meeting on May 18 and 19.

School districts throughout the state hold their school budget and board votes on Tuesday, May 19.  Be sure to go out and vote on yours.

On Wednesday, May 20, the Senate committees on Codes, Consumer Protection and Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs are holding a public hearing in Albany to “address New York State’s cyber security infrastructure, including the challenges, risks and protocols used to protect state information, hardware, software and systems.”

On Friday, May 22, Gov. Cuomo’s office is hosting a meeting to discuss a uniform state policy for e-mail retention and FOIL.  The location has not been set, and it is not clear whether legislative leaders plan to participate.

Also on May 20, the Senate committees on Energy & Telecommunications and Finance are holding a public hearing in Albany to consider the Energy Highway and the Reform of the Energy Vision (REV) initiatives.

On Wednesday, May 27, the Senate’s Select Committee on Science, Technology, Incubation, and Entrepreneurship is holding a forum/town hall in Albany on legislation related to issues of privacy, data breach, and appropriate penalties for violations.
