Last Friday, President Obama announced the federal government’s first major regulations on hydraulic fracturing, the oil and gas drilling technique that has led to a dramatic increase in American energy production.

The Secretary of the Interior calls them “commonsense rules for responsible energy development.” She said that the new rules will encourage innovation, define the rules of the road for the industry, and protect communities.

So we’ll ask one more time…why isn’t New York allowing safe, responsible natural gas development?
