Last Friday, Gov. Cuomo announced that Jeff Belt, President of SolEpoxy Inc. in Olean, will serve as the new Co-Chair of the Western New York Regional Economic Development Council (WNY REDC).  He will replace Howard Zemsky in the role.  Zemsky was recently appointed to serve as President and CEO of Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC) and Commissioner of Economic Development.

Belt has served on WNY REDC since 2011, representing manufacturers and Cattaraugus County.  He has taken an active role in the smart growth and Global-NY workgroups, among other regional council initiatives, to foster entrepreneurship and the development of small businesses. Gov. Cuomo said:

“Through the Western New York Regional Economic Development Council, we have seen an incredible amount of change in the right direction, and today I am proud to appoint and welcome Jeff Belt to serve as co-chair.  Mr. Belt has already contributed so much to this successful team, and I am confident that with his continued help we will see more even growth and momentum in this region.”

Western New York has made great strides in terms of growing its economy over the last four years, but much more work remains to be done.  We congratulate Mr. Belt on his appointment to this position, and look forward to seeing continued progress in the Western New York economy.
