Last Friday, the Gaming Commission and the casino siting board said that they will accept Gov. Cuomo’s request to reopen bidding for a Southern Tier casino.
Gov. Cuomo wrote to the boards Dec. 26 asking them to consider awarding the fourth and final casino license to a Southern Tier applicant, after three licenses were recommended for the Finger Lakes, Catskills and Albany areas. The Gaming Facility Location Board plans to meet next Tuesday to discuss the issue.
Also last week, the Coalition Against Gambling in New York wrote to the state Gaming Commission and urged them to reject Gov. Cuomo’s request that they consider a fourth casino license in the Southern Tier. (Read the group’s letter here.)
