Last week, Gov. Cuomo and the legislative leaders continued to discuss (privately) the possibility of holding a special session before the end of 2014. The main purpose of any such session would be to increase lawmakers salaries. If they do not do so before the end of this year, the earliest they could raise their pay would be in 2016.
Gov. Cuomo told reporters that he wants legislative action on ethics reforms (such as limiting how much money lawmakers can make in outside activities, and requiring disclosure of their clients), campaign finance reforms and public financing of campaigns.
We’d love to see mandate relief and reform of onerous regulations impacting businesses added to that list.
