Last Thursday, the Governor announced the award of $709.2 million in economic and community development funding in the fourth round of the Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) initiative.  The event, originally scheduled for Wednesday, was delayed due to a snowstorm.

Gov. Cuomo established the REDC process in 2011 to put in place an economic development process based on community-determined needs.  Through this process, community, business, and academic leaders and members of the public develop strategic plans specific to their region to create jobs, improve quality of life and grow the economy.

The full list of 2014 REDC awards and recipients is here.

The REDC event also served as a “farewell” to Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy, who will be leaving state government to head the Rochester Business Alliance in January.  We are looking forward to working with Lt. Gov. Duffy in his new role.  Watch Lt. Gov. Duffy’s farewell video here.
