Rich Funke – 55th Senate District (Parts of Monroe and Ontario counties)

Republican Rich Funke easily defeated one-term incumbent Democratic State Senator Ted O’Brien.  Funke is a retired broadcaster, spending 44 years in radio and television. He retired in 2012 after 40 years with local station WHEC as sports director and news anchor.

His legislative priorities include reducing property taxes and job creation.

The 55th Senate District includes eastern Monroe and western Ontario counties.

Karl Brabenec, 98th Assembly District (parts of Orange and Rockland counties)

Republican Karl Brabenac defeated Democrat by 37.  He will replace Republican Anne Rabbit, who left office at the end of 2013 after being elected Orange County Clerk.  Brabenac serves as the Supervisor of Deer Park.  He was first elected in 2009, and won re-election in 2011 and 2013. He previously served as an assistant to former Orange County Executive Edward Diana.

His legislative priorities include cutting taxes, supporting veterans and first responders, repealing Common Core, and supporting farmers.
