The Federal Reserve Bank of New York recently reported that its Empire State Manufacturing index dropped to 6.2 in October, down from a five-year high of 27.5 in September. Unfortunately, it isn’t news that manufacturing continues to struggle in New York State, particularly in our region.

It isn’t news to any Upstate residents that the manufacturing sector continues to struggle. Perhaps if the state finally allows communities that want natural gas development to allow it, this dynamic will change.  We’ve seen that happen elsewhere.
