Last weekend, Gov. Cuomo traveled to Washington D.C., Germany and Afghanistan as part of a bipartisan delegation of governors at the invitation of the U.S. Department of Defense, who sponsored the trip. The governors received briefings from senior U.S. Department of Defense officials on counterterrorism issues, the evolving global threats that affect New York’s security, and met with troops stationed in Afghanistan.

After the trip, Gov. Cuomo pledged to create the “most sophisticated homeland defense system ever designed by any state.”
