On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the Gaming Facility Location Board heard from supporters and critics of plans to bring casinos to three regions around the state.

Supporters of each proposal touted the local economic benefits, while critics warned of crime, traffic and gambling addiction.

Hearings were held in Albany on Monday regarding the Capital Region, in Poughkeepsie on Tuesday for the Hudson Valley/Catskills, and in Ithaca on Wednesday for the Southern Tier/Finger Lakes region.

Sixteen projects are competing for up to four casino licenses spread among the three regions.
