Last Monday and Tuesday, applicants vying for commercial casino licenses in the state made presentations regarding their proposals to the Gaming Facility Location Board, which is to make final recommendations to the state’s Gaming Commission. Sixteen applicants are competing for up to four licenses in three upstate regions – the Eastern Southern Tier, the Capital Region and the Catskills/Hudson Valley.

Each applicant was given a 45-minute window to make their case, with most using promotional videos alongside economic and revenue statistics. Each highlighted the strengths of its particular proposal, which included location, branding, job creation, and economic benefits to the state and local governments, among others.
