In an open letter posted on the State Senate web site, Senate Republican Leader Dean Skelos says that the state’s recent progress will be undone if the Senate Democrats regain the majority in that house in the November elections.

He argues that returning the Senate to Democratic control is tantamount to turning the Senate over to “the radical Working Families Party and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.”

We have similar concerns, largely based on the massive tax and spending increases that the state had to endure in 2009 and 2010, when the Senate Democrats last held the Majority.

Unshackle Upstate is not a partisan entity – we look at elected officials and their actions, not their party affiliations – but it’s clear to us that if the Senate Democrats regain control of the Senate in the November elections, we will be counting on Upstate Democrats — of which there are few in Albany — to stand up for taxpayers and job creators.
