Last Monday, the state Gaming Commission announced that bidders seeking casino licenses will make public presentations on their proposals on Sept. 8 and 9 in Albany.
The Gaming Commission has posted the full applications to their web site. (Click on ‘casino applicant materials,’ and then the name of the specific proposal.)
The Commission also said that public comment hearings will be scheduled in in each of the three upstate regions where casinos are likely to be sited — Poughkeepsie, Albany and Ithaca — on Sept. 22, 23 and 24. Specific information regarding those hearings was not provided.
The Gaming Commission also appointed Kevin Law, president of the Long Island Association, to serve as chairman of the New York Gaming Facility Location Board. The Location Board will review the bids for the upstate casino licenses and make recommendations to the Gaming Commission. The other members are former New York City Comptroller William Thompson, former state Budget Director Paul Francis, Hofstra University President Stuart Rabinowitz and retired New York City attorney Dennis Glazer.
