Last Monday was the state’s deadline for submission of an application for one of the state’s four commercial casino licenses in three upstate regions.  A total of 17 applications were submitted by 16 groups – nine in the Catskills, five in the Capital Region; and three in the Southern Tier.

The Gaming Facility Location Board will review and evaluate each application based on the statutory siting criteria, and will make recommendations to the state Gaming Commission. The process is expected to take the entire summer.
