Last Monday, the New York State Gaming Commission appointed the two final members to the five-member New York Gaming Facility Location Board. The Board will make recommendations to the Gaming Commission as to which casino license applicants should be awarded commercial casino licenses.
The new appointees are retired lawyer Dennis Glazer and Kevin Law, whoserves as President and CEO of the Long Island Association (LIA). They join former New York City Comptroller William Thompson, Hofstra University President Stuart Rabinowitz and former Director of State Operations Paul Francis.
We note that all five of the Facility Location Board members are from the New York City area. We understand wanting to avoid appointing people who live in regions that are seeking a casino, but large parts of Upstate (including Western New York, most of Central New York and the North Country) are not in the running for a new casino project. Couldn’t someone from Upstate have been appointed to serve on this body?
