The latest Siena College poll, released today, shows Governor Cuomo holding his commanding lead over GOP rival, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino.

If the election were held today 60% of registered voters would vote to reelect the Governor while 23% would choose Astorino. The numbers improve slightly for Astorino in Upstate where he trails Cuomo 47% to 32%. The Governor is crushing his challenger in New York City 84% to 8%.

Astorino is still troubled by low name recognition as evidenced by the 61% of the electorate has no opinion of him.

As Unshackle Upstate continues to work towards economic development and tax relief for Upstate job creators and taxpayers, we are pleased to see that jobs and taxes are the top issues in the minds of the voting public according to the survey.

Siena Pollster Steve Greenberg noted that “When it comes to which issues are motivating voters, they are largely economic.”

In other statewide races, incumbent Democrat Attorney General Eric Schniederman is leading his GOP opponent John Cahill 53% to 31%, while incumbent Democrat State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli is leading Onondaga County Comptroller Bob Antonacci 57% to 26%.
