Amedore Launches Senate Campaign

Former Republican Assemblyman George Amedore launched his campaign for the 46th Senate District with this video this past week. He is challenging first-term Democrat Cecelia Tkaczyk, who narrowly defeated Amedore for the seat in 2012.

We supported George Amedore in 2012.  We plan to take a close look at Senator Tkaczyk’s record to determine whether she has done all she can on behalf of Upstate families, taxpayers and businesses.

New Progressive – Labor Coalition May Target IDC Members

Following in the wake of Governor Cuomo’s announced support for a return to Democratic control of the State Senate, a coalition of labor interests and liberal activists are targeting the five members of the Senate’s Independent Democratic Conference (IDC) who have partially controlled the Senate’s upper chamber for the past two years in a power-sharing agreement with Sen. Dean Skelos and his Senate Republican Conference.

Former New York City Comptroller and Councilman John Liu has announced his candidacy for a Queens-based district currently held by IDC member Sen. Tony Avella.

Independent Democratic Conference Leader, Sen. Jeff Klein of the Bronx, is also facing a challenge from the left from former State Attorney General Oliver Koppel.

The labor-progressive alliance, buoyed by the Governor’s apparent support, is also seeking candidates to challenge the remaining members of the Independent Democratic Conference; Sen. David Valesky of Syracuse, Sen. Diane Savino of Staten Island and Sen. David Carlucci of Rockland County.
