Last week, the State Senate unanimously approved Richard Ball to lead the state Department of Agriculture and Markets.
For the past 20 years, Commissioner Ball has owned and operated Schoharie Valley Farms in Schoharie, NY, which consists of 200 acres and produces a wide range of vegetable crops, small fruits and greenhouse crops.
Dean Norton, New York Farm Bureau President, said:
“As a longtime friend and colleague, I have full confidence in Commissioner Ball and the passion he brings to his new role. New York Farm Bureau looks forward to working with him in supporting the exciting growth happening on farms throughout New York that contributes to our rural economies upstate and on Long Island. On behalf of all of our members, I would like to personally congratulate Richard on his appointment and confirmation.”
