Last week Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy made it official – he notified Gov. Cuomo that he will not seek re-election this fall as Gov. Cuomo’s running mate. Lt. Gov. Duffy characterized his move as “a life decision, not a political one,” and thanked Gov. Cuomo for the opportunity to serve in his administration.
Duffy served with distinction as Chief of Police and then Mayor of Rochester. We are pleased to have had the opportunity to work with him, and wish him well in his future endeavors.
Gov. Cuomo has not indicated who he will ask to join his ticket for the fall elections. Read speculation as to who the Governor might choose from the Wall Street Journal, the Buffalo News, NY1 and Capital NY. We’ll be pushing for the Governor to choose another Upstater for his 2014 ticket.
Gov. Cuomo said:
“Over the past few years as Lieutenant Governor, Bob has carried the mantle of progress and opportunity to every corner of this state. From bringing new focus to the Upstate economy to leading the Regional Economic Development Councils, few people have traveled more miles, heard from more New Yorkers, or had a greater impact on this State than Bob Duffy. My administration and all of New York owes him a tremendous debt of gratitude.”
