A recent Quinnipiac University poll shows that the state’s Democratic incumbents with large leads over their Republican challengers.
Gov. Cuomo holds a 29-point lead (57% – 28%) over Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, according to the poll. But if the left-leaning Working Families Party (WFP) runs its own candidate in the race, Gov. Cuomo’s share of the vote would drop to 37%, compared to Astorino’s 24% and the unnamed WFP candidate’s 22%.
The poll also shows incumbent Attorney General Schneiderman leading Republican John Cahill, 46% to 27%, and incumbent Comptroller Tom DiNapoli defeating an unnamed Republican opponent 50% – 29%. (The poll was completed before the Republicans nominated Onondaga County Comptroller Robert Antonacci to run for that office.)
