The Senate and Assembly are in session today and tomorrow this week. The Senate will meet in Session on Wednesday as well. The Assembly cancelled its Wednesday session to accommodate the state Republican Party convention.

On Tuesday, May 13, the START-UP NY Board meets in Albany at 10:00 am. The board is responsible for approving schools and businesses for participation in the START-UP NY program, under which businesses can operate free of state taxes for 10 years on SUNY campuses and approved private school campuses. The Board’s first approvals are expected soon.

On May 14 and 15, the state Republican Party will hold its convention Rye Brook, Westchester County.

On Friday, May 16, the Rochester Business Alliance hosts a member forum and networking reception featuring New York State Assembly Majority Leader Joe Morelle and State Senator Joe Robach.

On May 21 and 22, the state Democratic Party will hold its state convention in Melville, Suffolk County.

On Thursday, June 5, the Greater Binghamton Chamber hosts an event on the START-UP NY program.

The deadline for filing applications through the state’s Regional Economic Development Council process is Monday, June 16 at 4:00 p.m.

The 2014 legislative session is scheduled to end on June 19.
