Last Thursday, Gov. Cuomo announced that the state will make new red bordered license plates available to emergency responders.  The new plates will be available for vehicles registered to state agencies and local governments, as well as emergency vehicles, and will include an emergency management (EM) designation.

The state Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) will determine how many red license plates will be available to agencies and localities, and all applications must be certified by each local governments’ highest ranking elected government official.
