Last Tuesday, 3,500 gun rights advocates went to Albany for a rally in opposition to the state’s gun control laws, particularly the NY Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement (SAFE) Act.  That 2013 law bans the possession of high-capacity magazines, creates a registry of assault weapons and requires ammunition dealers to do background checks on buyers.

The event featured Donald Trump, 2010 GOP gubernatorial nominee Carl Paladino and Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, who is seeking the Republican nomination to challenge Gov. Cuomo this fall.
