To help address the many challenges that small businesses face in New York, more than 100 small business leaders and supporters participated in last week’s annual Small Business Day event. Topics included the Scaffold Law, minimum wage and healthcare.
I was pleased to have the opportunity to address the group, along with Mike Durant, New York State Director of the National Federation of Independent Business (HFIB), E.J. McMahon, president and Founder of the Empire Center for Public Policy, and Alphonso David, secretary to the Governor for Labor and Civil Rights.
Our lobbying meetings – we met with more than 75 legislators from around the state – were often productive. Being able to provide lawmakers and their staffs with a real-world perspective on the legislation they deal with can be very helpful to them.
Hopefully, you will be able to join us next March for Small Business Lobby Day 2015
