Paladino: State GOP Should Support Trump for Governor

Last week, 2010 GOP gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino released an open letter to state Republican Party Chair Ed Cox, calling on him and the state Republican Party leadership to support Donald Trump rather than Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino as the party’s candidate for Governor against Gov. Cuomo this fall.

Paladino, who was easily defeated by Cuomo in 2010, has suggested that he will seek the Conservative Party nomination if Cox does not support Trump.

Prosecutor to Challenge Stirpe

Former prosecutor Robert DeMarco has announced that he will seek the GOP nomination to run for the 127th Assembly seat currently held by Democrat Al Stirpe.  Stirpe served in the Assembly from 2007 through 2010, when he was narrowly defeated by Republican Don Miller.  In a 2012 rematch, Stirpe defeated Miller.

The 127th Assembly District includes the Syracuse suburbs of North Syracuse, Cicero, Clay, Manlius, LaFayette and Pompey.
