Last week, Gov. Cuomo announced that the state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is expanding its electronic notification program of expiring vehicle registrations and inspections, adding the ability to receive text alerts.
DMV Commissioner Barbara Fiala said:
“These reminders, like our expanded lineup of online services, are another way in which we are making use of technology to increase efficiency, be cost effective and better serve the people of New York State.”
Reminders will be sent out for registration and licenses once a month beginning 90 days before the expiration date. For inspections, reminders will be sent out the first and 15th of the month when it is due to expire and again on the expiration date.
