The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) announced last week that Gov. Cuomo has recommended John B. Rhodes to be NYSERDA’s president and chief executive officer, replacing Francis Murray.  The position requires approval of NYSERDA’s board, which is expected to occur later this month.

NYSERDA is a public benefit corporation that provides information and analysis, innovative programs, technical expertise, and funding to help New Yorkers increase energy efficiency, use renewable energy, and reduce their reliance on fossil fuels.

Mr. Rhodes previously served as the Director of the Center for Market Innovation (CMI) for the Natural Resources Defense Council, and served as Chief Operating Officer at Good Energies, an energy investment firm.

Gov. Cuomo said:

“As we continue our work to position New York State at the forefront of the clean energy economy, I am pleased to recommend the appointment of John Rhodes to serve as President and CEO of NYSERDA to help lead those efforts….The State is carrying out an unprecedented level of investment in growing our clean energy economy, and I am confident John will bring valuable experience that will help drive and enhance this commitment.”
