Last week, we commended the state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) for finally issuing their long-awaited regulations to implement siting, operating and transportation requirements for LNG facilities in the State.  As the DEC noted in their press release, “new LNG facilities will provide environmental and economic benefits” in the state – lower emissions and reduced fuel costs.

It’s a win-win, right?  Not for the CAVE People. CAVE People – Citizen Activists Against Virtually Everythingdon’t like the new rules.  I wish I could say that I am surprised.

Thankfully, there are at least some groups out there that recognize that moving the state’s transportation sector away from foreign oil toward domestic and clean burning natural gas is a good thing.  Let’s hope that their views (along with common sense) prevail when DEC considers the public comments on these new rules.
