President Obama will be visiting Upstate New York at the end of this week, planning events in Buffalo, Syracuse and Binghamton. The White House says that the President will be focusing on college education on his trip, which will occur on Thursday and Friday.
The President is planning to speak at the University at Buffalo and a Syracuse high school on Thursday. On Friday, he will hold a town hall event at SUNY Binghamton.
We are quite proud of our world-class universities. We understand that developing the necessary skills base that will enable us to move beyond a manufacturing economy into a 21st century innovation economy is not a short-term project. It will require a long-term, concerted effort, and collaboration among companies, government, trade associations, colleges and universities. But that is exactly the type of effort that will enable us to return to an era of prosperity.
