This Wednesday, Gov. Cuomo will host a tourism summit in Albany to “hear ideas from industry leaders, business owners and other stakeholders to help ensure that the tourism industry continues to grow and create jobs in New York.”

The Governor has previously hosted a wine, beer and spirits summit and a yogurt summit.  These events have helped promote their subject, and in some cases even improved the regulatory environment.

Tourism is an extremely important industry in Upstate New York.  New York City has turned itself into one of the world’s premier tourist attractions, drawing over 50 million visitors annually – 10 million from overseas.  Upstate can do more to better market itself, and the state’s support in that effort can help.  We are pleased to see this effort moving forward, and hope that it will bear fruit in terms of job creation.
