Last week, I joined the Lawsuit Reform Alliance of New York (LRANY) and about 175 other advocates to push for changes to New York’s outdated and unnecessary Scaffold Law.

It was the biggest effort ever to get lawmakers to reform Scaffold Law, which gives workers who are injured on job sites the right to sue owners and contractors for negligence and hold them absolutely liable – even when the employee is primarily responsible for their injury.

Since small businesses and construction jobs drive economic growth, reforming the Scaffold Law will make New York more competitive, and send the message that New York is truly “open for business.”
