Last Monday, Gov. Cuomo traveled to Washington D.C., to make the case for his $42 billion federal aid request. On Friday, the White House announced that it has submitted to Congress a $60.4 billion aid request for emergency relief funding for New York, New Jersey and other impacted states.
Some are concerned that the assistance might get tied up with negotiations as to how the federal government intends to avoid the “fiscal cliff.”
It is obviously going to require a great deal of money for the state to fully recover from the effects of the storm, and to make sure that the state is better prepared for the next natural disaster. Hopefully, representatives of other states will recognize the importance of coming to our aid.
