It is still unclear which party will control the New York State Senate in 2013.

The race that may determine which party will control the State Senate in 2013 remains unresolved.  The 46th Senate District comprises parts of Ulster, Albany and Schenectady counties and all of Greene and Montgomery counties.  Republican Assemblyman George Amedore leads Democrat Cecilia Tkaczyk by 110 votes out of some 126,000 cast.

There are 877 contested ballots that remain uncounted in the race.  The first court arguments about which of these ballots will be opened will be held next Monday before acting state Supreme Court Judge Guy Tomlinson in Montgomery County.

The Senate’s Independent Democratic Conference – four Democrats who do not support the current Senate Democratic leadership – have said that they are discussing entering into a power-sharing agreement with the Senate’s Republican Conference.
