The 2013 legislative session begins on Wednesday, January 9. Each house of the Legislature will meet at noon, and the Governor’s State of the State Address is scheduled to be held in the Empire State Plaza Convention Center at 1:30.
On Thursday, January 10, the Assembly Committees on Environmental Conservation and Health and the Assembly Administrative Regulation’s Review Commission hold a public hearing on the Department of Environmental Conservation’s proposed High Volume Hydraulic Fracturing regulations.
On Tuesday, January 15, the Assembly Committee on Tourism, Parks Arts and Sports Development is holding a public hearing “to examine the impact of the State’s ‘I Love New York’ brand redevelopment on the tourism industry and potential for other new initiatives to enhance tourism sector growth.
On Wednesday, January 16, the Assembly Environmental Conservation Committee holds a public hearing in Albany on “the environmental causes and effects of extreme weather events.” A second hearing on the issue will be held on Long Island on January 24.
Gov. Cuomo is expected to release his 2013-14 Executive Budget on Tuesday, January 22.
