The battle for control of the State Senate – where the GOP currently holds a 33-29 edge – WILL be decided in Upstate.

In a Senate seat that covers part of the Westchester Putnam and Dutchess counties, incumbent Republican Senator Greg Ball faces Democrat Justin Wagner.

In a new Senate district created through the redistricting process that includes parts of Albany, Greene, Schenectady, Montgomery and Ulster counties, Republican Assemblyman George Amedore faces Democrat Cecilia Tkacyzk.  Unshackle Upstate has endorsed George Amedore in this race.  He is the only candidate in this race that has created jobs and knows what it takes to meet payroll week after week.

In the Rochester area, Republican Assemblyman Sean Hanna faces Democratic County Legislator Ted O’Brien.  Unshackle Upstate has endorsed Sean Hanna in this race.  Sean understands that we need to reduce spending, reduce taxes and eliminate barriers to private sector job growth.

In the Buffalo area, Republican incumbent Mark Grisanti is being challenged by Democrat Mike Amodeo and Conservative Chuck Swanick. Unshackle upstate has endorsed Mark Grisanti in this race.

There is not expected to be a change in terms of the control of the State Assembly. Democrats have a substantial majority in that house, and are expected to maintain that majority.
