Two new polls released this week by the Siena Research Institute show good news for the Senate’s Republican majority. Two GOP candidates in districts with a Democratic enrollment advantage seem to be running well.
In Western New York’s 60th Senate District, Siena shows incumbent Republican Sen. Mark Grisanti leads challenger Michael Amodeo, 47 percent to 23 percent. But this district is overwhelmingly Democratic enrollment — 2 ½ to 1. We’ve endorsed Sen. Grisanti for re-election because of his stellar record on jobs and taxes, and we plan to keep working on his behalf. Last week, his opponent came out against the real property tax cap. Apparently, Amodeo just doesn’t get it.
In Queens, Siena shows incumbent Democrat Joe Addabbo with a slim 45 – 43 percent lead over his Republican challenger, New York City Councilman Eric Ulrich. Gov. Cuomo endorsed Addabbo last week.
