On Tuesday, Gov. Cuomo announced that the state will spend $1 million for a regional marketing plan aimed at highlighting New York’s historical assets.  NY’s “Path Through History” will serve as a statewide roadmap identifying some 200 historically and culturally significant sites, locations and events throughout New York.

The initiative will also include a new website and mobile application to direct tourists to historical sites.

The $1 million in state funds will be distributed in $100,000 grants to “workshops” that will work with Cuomo’s 10 regional economic councils and local officials to implement a marketing plan, according to the governor’s office.
