Last Saturday, Gov. Cuomo announced progress on two aspects of the Peace Bridge Plaza construction.  He said that the Peace Bridge Authority (PBA) will approve a $20 million project to renovate and expand the U.S. Customs Commercial Building, while the state and the city of Buffalo have reached a preliminary agreement on a property transfer that will enable the project to continue to advance.

It is impossible to underestimate the importance of the Peace Bridge to the Buffalo-Niagara regional economy, especially trade and tourism, and it is good to see this project moving forward.

The final design of the U.S. Customs Commercial Building renovations is expected to conclude by next spring. The construction bid process will take place in summer 2013. Construction will commence in the fall of 2013 and is anticipated to take 18-24 months.
